This project involved expanding an existing hangar at the Vancouver International Airport’s south terminal from 12,500 square feet to 19,200 square feet and completely retrofitting it to meet today’s standards and codes. The retrofitting process included re-engineering the building’s existing primary steel structure for re-use, as well as installing all new insulation and cladding. Additionally, a bifold hangar door spanning 116 feet was installed, allowing for easier access and accommodation of larger aircraft. The completed work also includes upgrades to the hangar’s existing drainage, electrical, fuel storage, and fire suppression systems.
